Drum Making and Community Connections at Nuutsumuut Lelum

Another opportunity to meet with members of our community

During Spring Break, the Klahowya team had the privilege of participating in a special workshop at Nuutsumuut Lelum (All in One House). Over two days, we worked with youth and adults to create 23 beautiful drums, fostering cultural connections and creativity in the community.

Honoring Tradition Through Drum Making

Drums hold deep significance for Indigenous Peoples, serving as tools for communication, connection, and cultural expression. Guiding participants through the drum-making process was a meaningful experience that brought everyone closer to the teachings and traditions surrounding this art form.

Showcasing Our Zero Emission Truck

While this wasn’t an official Klahowya event, we brought our Zero Emission truck along to share its striking design by Noel Brown (Snuneymuxw) with the residents. The truck was well received, and we had the opportunity to discuss zero-emission vehicles and their benefits with local community members.

A Successful Gathering

The workshop was a great success, blending cultural learning with sustainability outreach. We’re grateful to have connected with the residents of Nuutsumuut Lelum and look forward to continuing these conversations about zero-emission transportation in future events.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this workshop and made it such a memorable experience!
